BA, Sociology, University of Southern California
MBA, Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University

Parent of Lauren, Bay Class of 2018

Rich has been drawn towards giving back to schools after a transformative educational experience in 11th grade, where he transferred from the Nashville public school system to an independent K-12 program. He felt behind most others academically, but credits the belief of three teachers who saw ability in him he didn't see in himself. First exposed to Bay as a parent, Rich features experience as a former trustee and now school administrator, guiding Bay through its next Strategic Design process.

The title of his autobiography would be Live for Today (Not Yesterday or Tomorrow!). After losing his dad when he was 18 to having a near-death experience himself, Rich strongly believes in making the most of every single day we're fortunate to be on this planet with those we love. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, cooking and eating, being in the front row at concerts, traveling, snow skiing and scuba diving.

Precept affinity: We value patience with ourselves and others; we don’t rush to judgment. "I have been a very anxious, impatient person much of my life. With age, and I have a lot of that, I have come to understand that patience with ourselves is healthy for the soul, self and body. And patience with others is a great enabler of learning, compassion and understanding of those around us."
