BA, Physics and Astronomy, Carleton College

David knew that he wanted to be a physics teacher even when he was in high school, and his enthusiasm for astronomy has inspired many Bay graduates to continue their studies of it in college. He teaches “because physics is everywhere. Astronomy is empowering.” He believes that "project-based learning is how students learn best,” so Bay is a good fit. David also manages the Tuolumne Skies Observatory, a research-level facility in Groveland, California, where Bay students are able to get firsthand experience in practicing astronomy. He has an impressive collection of bow ties.

Precept affinity: We value living with kindness and honesty; we are careful truth-tellers.
“This implores us to be good scientists. Truth telling is hard to do and yet very important.”

Favorite Acre lunch: I love eating all of the food here!
