Craig joined Bay in 2008 and has always taken very seriously our founding goal, to prepare young people to respond to the world 20 and 30 years from now. His formative educational experience remains teaching, specifically “giving students more freedom than seems wise and discovering that they rise to the occasion.” This approach makes him well suited to one of his central roles at Bay, working with 12th graders throughout their Senior Signature Projects. A master problem-solver, Craig has devised some of Bay’s best internal tools, including the calculating spreadsheet where the Atmospheric Engineering classes collect the data from their weather balloons.

Precept affinity: We value living with kindness and honesty; we are careful truth-tellers.
“On their own, kindness and honesty each seem sort of obvious and easy. It's the combination that is often difficult. It is often easier to stay quiet than speak your mind when the truth might be hard to hear, but this precept suggests that telling the truth is important, and calls us to do so carefully and as kindly as possible rather than staying silent to be ‘nice.’"

Favorite things: Acre’s coconut curry with chickpeas and “COCONUT CAKE!!!!” Also, he has a drawer full of fun socks and just pulls two out randomly in the morning. Maybe they match, maybe they don’t.

Currently teaching: Senior Projects, Advanced Seminar: Essay and Memoir (Honors), Futures Past and Present (Immersive), Atmospheric Science and Engineering: Launching Near-Space Weather Balloons (Immersive)
