Ghita Harris-Newton is a Senior Director of Government Affairs & Public Policy at Google, where she leads a team of public policy experts dedicated to supporting Google’s Ads business. She has over 20 years of legal and policy experience with particular expertise in privacy, technology and digital advertising. Ghita’s prior roles include Chief Privacy Officer and VP of Legal at Quantcast, Assistant General Counsel and Global Head of Privacy Law & Privacy Policy at Yahoo, and private law firm practice. Ghita has a JD, Magna Cum Laude, from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A., Summa Cum Laude, in Mass Communications and Political Science from James Madison University. She is a member of the State Bars of California, Virginia and DC, holds IAPP CIPP/US and CIPP/EU privacy certifications, and serves on the NAI Board of Directors. 

Prior to joining Bay’s Board of Trustees, Ghita served for eight years on the Board of Trustees of the San Francisco Waldorf School, where she founded and chaired the Board DEI Committee, and was instrumental in creating two endowed funds for DEI scholarships and programming.

Ghita lives in San Francisco and has a student in Bay’s 2026 class.
