BA, Studio Art and Art Education, Skidmore College
MFA, Printmaking, Cranbrook Academy of Art

Ascha was encouraged to be an artist by her high school printmaking teacher, and she is thankful for that nudge. A powerful experience as an educator was her time working as a teaching artist in NYC public schools though the Guggenheim Museum, in which she got to collaborate with elementary school classroom teachers. Ascha brings the perspective of different artists to Bay students with museum and studio visits—sometimes in person, sometimes virtually. She loves teaching art at Bay because “students find their voice in the arts classes at Bay. Powerful a-ha moments unfold in the studio spaces, and students recognize that the arts can incite change, open up perspectives, and teach others about new cultures and communities.” She also values that Bay trusts its teachers to weave their own experiences and practices into the curriculum.
