The Bay factor: "Morning Meeting brings together the entire Bay community for reflection and shared experience. This tradition is the cultural connective tissue of the school and its stakeholders, building a community orientation that endures far beyond the time at school."
Favorite precept: "I fell in love with Bay's precepts before becoming involved with the Bay community. In particular I anchor on "living with kindness and honesty." I grew up in a small farming community in southern Indiana, where my high school was roughly a third black and a third hispanic immigrants. What I learned was that if we allow our innate compassion to lead in relationships, the gifts of diversity manifest in unexpectedly profound ways, building deep, enduring human connections built on authenticity, empathy, and kindness."
