BS, Biology, Ecology, San Diego State University

Richard is deeply enmeshed with the natural world. His most profound educational experience was his time working in the Arctic studying climate change. He now teaches Bay’s climate change class, as well as biology, computer science, and some of our most-loved Immersives, including Water in the American West and California Natural History. But, he says, “really what I hope I’m teaching my students is how to learn.” Richard is also a surfer, surf photographer, and avid outdoors-person.

Bay Bravery: Through any challenge I may face, succeed or fail, I will be OK.

Favorite things: Ice cream and surfing

Currently teaching: Biology 1, Environmental Science, Climate Change, Evolutionary Biology, Marine Biology (Immersive), Water in the American West: The Eastern Sierra Nevada (Immersive)
