BA, Religious Studies, emphasis in Dance and Music in Religion, Humboldt State University
Actor Training Program Certificate, Solano College

Parent of Josephine, Bay Class of 2027

Denise was changed by the two summers in high school she spent at Cal Arts, studying with working artists who were excited to share their knowledge and experiences. She pays this forward in her dedicated work with Bay students to create a vibrant stage and theater-tech program. Denise is also an experienced pianist and vocalist, and teaches our vocal music class. Her life’s work is to bring beauty and greater meaning to the world through creative expression and connection with others. She takes inspiration from Oscar Wilde’s words: “I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.” Among Denise’s favorite written works are the poetry of Mary Oliver and Ranier Maria Rilke.
