Hannah has been most impacted by the in-between moments in her education, from pre-class chats with friends and classmates to epiphanies during library coffee breaks to rambling discussions with professors during office hours. She teaches in our Humanities program because, “I love stories, full stop.” And her favorite part of teaching at Bay? “We're teaching thinking. We're teaching students to turn their critical eyes and ears to the world we live in, past and present — and even future. We use history, literature, and art to understand why our world is the way it is. In short, we study our shared humanity, and in doing so, we examine our own.”
Favorite precepts: We value the importance of boundaries; we take only what is given, and We value generosity; we share, giving and receiving help. “We might think of boundaries as structures, or organization, or guiding principles; I think learning boundaries is an essential part of a high school education. And at the same time, we're a community committed to generosity.”
Favorite things: Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy, and Acre’s coconut curry, “hands down”
