Michael grew up on a blueberry farm in Sonoma County while attending a dual-language immersion elementary school; his passion for other languages and cultures really took off in the 6th grade when his family moved to live in Córdoba, Spain for a year. Later on he traveled to Argentina as a high school exchange student, returned to Spain in college to study abroad at the University of Granada, and taught English at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro while learning Brazilian Portuguese. Michael enjoys playing the guitar, learning Italian, making videos for his Spanish Youtube channel, rock climbing, and dancing salsa. At Bay, Michael has taught Spanish levels 1 through 5, Creative Process, Uncovering Cultural Biases in America, and Stories of San Francisco's Communities.

Some favorite things: Bay's glorious outdoor green space, Acre's deliciously elaborate lunches, my creative colleagues and students
